In 2018, I began writing a short story about a chaotic summer adventure turned existential revelation. During pandemic isolation, the project morphed into a memoir that unpacks my journey with non-monogamy, internalized biphobia, social anxiety, and codependency; also, classics like trauma, neglect, and the patriarchy!
Please reach out if you cannot find an answer to your question.
In Waves tells the true story of sensitive, queer therapist Lauren, who joins her best friend Yasmin for a hyper-hetero week-long party trip in Croatia. Amidst the shining sun and blaring house beats, Lauren finds herself struggling to fit in and questioning her decade-long avoidance of men—also, her enmeshed partnership with loving girlfriend Hunter. Can Lauren navigate the choppy waters of non-monogamy, trauma, and love in order to heal from her past, get some answers and have a little naughty fun?
Great question. I also ask myself this sometimes. Once I began sharing my book with loved ones, I saw that my story was other peoples' story, too. My writing offers a unique blend of grounded therapist wisdom and chaotic (but endearing) bisexual mess.
I'm still working on getting this baby published! In the meantime, please visit my blog for excerpts and my social media for updates.
